One of the most common questions travellers ask is: "How many suitcases can I bring in an airport taxi?" The answer depends on your vehicle choice, number of passengers, and whether you need child seats.
This guide explains exactly how much luggage fits in each vehicle type โ so you can book the right transfer and avoid last-minute surprises.
Vehicle Example: Toyota Prius, VW Passat, Ford Mondeo
Passengers: Up to 3
Suitcases: 2-3 standard suitcases (20-30kg each)
Child Seats: 1-2 (reduces luggage space)
A standard saloon car has a boot that fits 2 large suitcases. With careful packing, 3 medium suitcases may fit. If you have 3 passengers, luggage space is limited to 2 suitcases maximum.
Vehicle Example: Skoda Octavia Estate, VW Passat Estate
Passengers: Up to 4
Suitcases: 4-5 standard suitcases
Child Seats: 2-3 (may reduce luggage space)
Estate cars have significantly more boot space than saloons. They are perfect for small families or travellers returning from holiday with extra shopping.
Vehicle Example: Mercedes E-Class, Audi A6, BMW 5 Series
Passengers: Up to 3
Suitcases: 2-3 standard suitcases
Child Seats: 1-2
Executive vehicles offer premium comfort with similar luggage capacity to saloon cars. The difference is interior quality, leather seats, and extra legroom.
Vehicle Example: Ford Galaxy, VW Sharan, Mercedes Vito
Passengers: Up to 8
Suitcases: 6-8 standard suitcases (depending on seat configuration)
Child Seats: 4-5
8-seater MPVs are the most versatile option. With all seats up, luggage space is limited. With some seats folded, you can fit 6-8 suitcases plus passengers.
Golf bags count as 2 suitcases in terms of space. Estate cars or MPVs are recommended for 2+ golf bags.
Skis up to 200cm fit in estate cars and MPVs. Saloon cars may not accommodate long ski bags.
Strollers are counted as 1 suitcase. Estate cars and MPVs are recommended for families with strollers.
Bicycles require an MPV with seats folded. Please specify when booking so we can allocate the right vehicle.
Child seats take up significant space in a vehicle. Each child seat reduces available luggage capacity by approximately 1 suitcase.
If you need child seats, we recommend booking an estate car or 8-seater MPV for adequate luggage space.
| Vehicle Type | Passengers | Suitcases | Child Seats | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Saloon Car | 3 | 2-3 | 1-2 | Solo travellers, couples |
